Time

Not enough time in the day! I have so neglected my blog, and so many things are going on that I need to share with the world! I've been spending my allotted computer socializing on Facebook. I think I'm addicted! I'm going to try to make time this weekend to update on here, though! And do my taxes....!

More prayers

Our prayers are with Dacia, Leann, Donya, and all of the Granberry family. Blake was killed in a car accident last night.

Aloha!

As I looked back through my posts, I noticed that I haven't mentioned....Hawaii! I DO, however, have a countdown widget right on top of my sidebar, though, that shows the number of days left until our trip! I got an awesome deal on flights - $433/pp roundtrip NONSTOP to Honolulu! AND I have two rooms for six nights FREE at the Marriott at Ko'Olina with my Marriott rewards points! I've always wanted my kids to see the Arizona memorial at Pearl Harbor since their Grandaddy (my daddy) was on the Arizona when it was bombed on Dec. 7, 1941. And NO, I wasn't born then! Lucky for me (and my kids) that he was a survivor! Anyway, we're so very excited about going in June, except Maegan and Courtney can't go, so that makes me sad. Maegan is in nursing school and Courtney doesn't want to leave Zylen yet (although he could go, too! It might be better to wait 'til he's a little bit older - then he can go see the memorial in honor of his GREAT-Grandaddy!)

Behind

I've been so engrossed with facebook that I've neglected my blogspot! These methods of communication are just time-consuming! But a lot of fun, too! So, to catch up - not much has been going on, just waiting for spring break to hurry up and be here!!!! Morgan has been gone to Charlston, SC since Thurs. and should be home any minute now. I've been helping Maegan with her nursing school papers (I'm the editor!) It's 7:30 and still so light - daylight savings time throws me for a loop every time! So, anyway, I'm including a few more pics of Zylen...a couple where he was holding a water bottle with his mouth - it was so funny-looking that I wanted to share it!

Party Day!

Here are a few pictures from Zylen's birthday party....I only have about 250 more. Blogger wouldn't let me put more on this post for some reason, though! I'll add some more in another post. He had the best first birthday party EVER! Perfect sunny day, lots of friends, food and presents...and a bouncy house! He was a very good little boy all day, too. Perfect! Stay tuned for more pics.....

Messy Boy

So Morgan and I went to see Zylen this weekend! She took her new camera and took 458 pictures of him. He's learning so many new things so fast! I handed him a spoon when I was feeding him his dinner Saturday night and he started feeding himself, doing a very nice (although very messy) job of it. Rather smart, I think! Notice he preferred the left hand....like his daddy and Aunt Lucy! Tomorrow is his 1st birthday!

Happy Valentine's Day!

February 24, 2008 began a year of "firsts" for our family. The first grandchild was born! Today is his first Valentine's Day, and he is such a little sweetheart! The first birthday is just days away now - I can't believe it's been a year, and I know this next one will be just as much fun as he turns two! Happy Valentine's Day!

Mission Accomplished!

When I bought my house in May, 2007, it had WALLPAPER and PANELING throughout, along with gold shag carpet from the '70s. The carpet came out immediately and was replaced with wood laminate & new carpet. Before we moved in, we got every room painted except the kitchen. You know how it is - just get moved in & we'll finish that room later. Well, later finally came....with Maegan's help! She rounded up a couple of guy friends and this weekend my kitchen was finally painted. It's a beautiful gold color and I'm accenting everything in red. I'm going to get red seat cushions, etc. and small appliances are red...toaster, can opener, and so on. The blue shades must go soon, but I don't know what I want to do with the bay window. Any suggestions? I'm NOT creative! Anyway, I love my kitchen now! That wallpaper was really ugly! Thank you, Maegan, for taking charge & getting this done for me! I love you!

She did it again....

I truly don't mean to be such a bragging mom, but my goodness, I can't help but let the world know that once again Morgan attended a UIL meet Saturday and once again she brought home the "gold!" First place in feature writing, first place in spelling, and third place in current events. Oh, did I mention that she wasn't even signed up for current events and hadn't studied for that at all? The teacher just put her in there because she had one absent. The two first places she took were the only two she was actually signed up for. Yep, I'm proud! Just hope she does that when the district meet roles around in March!

Sunrise

What a beautiful...and somewhat odd... sunrise! Just wanted to share it!

Peaceful slumber.....less.....night

It was kind of LOUD at my house last night! Yes, 16 - 17 year old girls DO still have slumber parties....and the slumbering part didn't start until about 3:30 a.m. Luckily, I had the new John Grisham release to keep me company, and I read the entire book last night while Morgan & company laughed hysterically over I don't know what! Anyway, they had a great time - I'm glad she has such sweet friends. They're a great little group.

Mid-Winter

Here we are - the twins- at mid-winter conference! I've been going to that conference for the last 15 years, but I enjoyed this one so much because Donna was there and we got to spend a lot of time together (even though a lot of it was spent in meetings!) We ate at a couple of nice places (thanks, Balfour)but our lunches were spent sitting between sessions eating cheetos and chocolate and just catching up on our lives. Those were actually the best meals I had! I love you, Donna!

Proud Mommy

Just look at the medals around that neck! Morgan was in 3 events at the Mexia UIL invitational meet last Saturday and took first place in two of them! Wow! I'm such a proud mommy! On Sunday she danced and did a Spanish interpretation in the talent show. The picture shows her at practice - I didn't get any at the actual show. So anyway,I just have to brag sometimes....I'm proud of all of my fantastic five! Maegan is working hard at nursing school, Courtney is being a super mom to our Zylen, and Jayme and Jeremy are doing a great jobs as educators! I love my children!

Moving Day

Saturday was moving day for Jayme. She has a very nice new apartment with a pretty view and new furniture, too. Morgan, Jeremy, Courtney, Zeke, Zylen and Jack were on hand to help with the moving in. Dacia came with her baby, Chandler, who is 2. He entertained Zylen - they were so cute! My assignment was to line the shelves, and I must say I did a fine job of it! I'm the queen of shelf-lining! ;) Now I'm off to the mid-winter administrator's conference in Austin from Sun. - Wed. I think this is either my 15th or 16th year to attend. Gosh, the years fly by!

Happy Birthday Jeremy!

Today my baby boy is .....34....can that be right?!? Okay, so I WAS very YOUNG when I had him!!! Seems like just yesterday he was posing in this "old timey" picture with Josette! My sweet little boy! I'm sooooooo proud of the man he has become...and I love him oh, so much! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JEREMY!

Where Do the Weekends Go?

Weekdays can be so long.....but weekends fly by so fast! Why is that? This weekend I said goodbye to Christmas '08. It was sad putting away all of the festive decorations that I love so much....and it was also a LOT of work! It's much more fun putting them up in preparation for Christmas! So what's next? We'll see what the new year brings!

I watched the Golden Globes awards tonight - guess I should try to watch Slumdog Millionaire! It won a lot of awards! And....Ha! Jolie-Pitt and their movies were SHUT OUT! Again, Ha! I guess that's just plain mean of me, but I just don't like them!

Merry Christmas Again!

Back to work ! But I ended my time off with the most wonderful week! Jeremy came on Wednesday, so I had four of my five here for New Year's. Kimberly and Robert came over for a little while and Colton brought some fireworks, one really big, pretty one. Other than that, it was a "quiet" New Year's Eve at my house. We started out 2009 by going to Grand Station in Bryan for bowling, laser tag and putt-putt. We had a blast! Then late Friday night, Zylen, Zeke, and Courtney got here from Kansas! Yay! "Christmas" on Saturday (better late than never!) was great...much fun with the gift card hunt outside (it was a BEAUTIFUL day!). All the kids bought a $30 gift card from various places and I hid them all around the back yard - kinda like an Easter egg hunt. After everybody found one, they opened their envelopes to see where their gift cards were to. Morgan's was to DW's (anybody know DW's??!!??) It was just a joke, though - she really ended up with one from Target! Anyway, Zylen was sooooooo sweet and sooooo cute. He was awfully sick and didn't feel so great, but by Sunday he was feeling much better. Poor baby. Everybody else has been sick, too, but when it's our baby, well, it's just sad! Gee, I love him a lot!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

2008 was truly great.....ZYLEN came along in Feb., that was the BEST ever! In July I got a super great new job with a lot of really nice folks. And I ended the year by winning that jackpot, well now THAT was just some fun! I expect 2o09 to be really, really fine! (How about those rhymes with the years?!?) HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYONE! Love to my family and friends!
