Wrapped Up!

It never fails this time of year...yep, we got WRAPPED. Twice in the last two weeks. You'd think it was because I'm a school administrator, but no, it's not my students...it's Morgan's, um, "friends" in high school. I normally don't mind - I've done my share of driving the getaway car - but last night in addition to the wrapping they took all of my outdoor Halloween decorations and piled them in front of the front door and then they OPENED IT! Everything fell inside into my foyer with a loud clatter! By the I got to the scene of the crime they were gone. My neighbor saw the whole thing (it was only 8:30 - they don't even wait 'til I go to bed!)but she couldn't see the getaway car to see who the culprits were. Anyway, as I said, I usually don't mind, but opening my door was going tooooo far because if my little Sadie had run out into the street or gotten lost I would have been oh, so very upset! Maegan, Morgan and I got out there and cleaned it all up immediately so that if they returned to the crime scene it would be...poof!... all gone! Well, there's still some in the trees that we couldn't get to...

Sadness

I'm broken-hearted today to learn of the death of a precious, precious girl - Candace Beggs. She was in a car accident yesterday afternoon on her way back to college at Mary Hardin - Baylor. Her father is our pastor at First Baptist Church, Teague, and her parents are dear friends. Please pray that God will hold on tight to this family during the days ahead - I know that is the only way they'll make it through.

Can you say DRAMA?!?

What a day of drama! It started at 4:00 a.m. with two loud crashes outside...somebody crashed through my fence and into a huge tree in my front yard, then across the road into a concrete column by my neighbor's driveway. The driver "left the scene" (and his beer cans)and we had the police out to investigate. The guy who did it came by later in the day and gave us insurance info for the damages...we're just so glad the tree stopped him before he barreled into the house! It was aiming straight for Meg's bedroom! Well, then, toward the end of the day we're in the back yard and this Mexican fellow who doesn't speak English comes running up to our yard crying and wanting to call the cops. So, here we go again...same officer from this morning here again! Seems the guy was at a "fiesta" at a house near ours and got beaten up or something. The nice policeman, who couldn't speak Spanish either, took him home to his house in Jewett! Geez, what next?!?
Other than all that, we had a FANTASTIC weekend here at the Anderson home! All five of my kids and THE GRANDBABY were here! So of course I have some good pics to include with this post. Check out Zylen with the pumpkin Aunt Meggie carved for him! And having fun with "Uncle Frog" (Jeremy) and a mask. Then there's my guitar heros! (Ignore the MESS in the house-we were having fun!).I'll share one of the crash damage, too! Huh!

Cooking Something Up

Last night I was tooooo tired to even think straight. We had our Coalition "Fun Night" and it was a long day....and night! So I stopped by Sonic on the way home and got a diet cherry lime-aide (my fave!) but when I got home I went directly to bed - I didn't pass go - and I didn't even drink my drink! That's way tired! Anyway, tonight Meg, Morgan and I went to the grocery store and when we got home Meg & I made lots of food! She has a classmate with a birthday tomorrow, so she was baking a cake and just threw in a guacamole salad for us to eat, and I have a faculty luncheon tomorrow, so I made a Georgia Cracker Salad and a Banana Split Cake. We had to sample, of course......oh, my gosh, it was so good! I rarely cook anything, but I must say that when I do, I choose good recipes. I think I'll share them...and remember, they're guaranteed good!

Georgia Cracker Salad - Mix 1 bunch chopped green onions, 3 chopped romo tomatoes, 6chopped boiled eggs, and 1 sleeve crumbled saltine crackers. Just before serving, mix in mayonnaise to taste (not too much or it will be mushy!) and pepper. Seriously, it's really good stuff!

Next - Banana Split Cake - Mix 2-1/2 c. graham cracker crumbs with 1/2 c. sugar and 1 c. margarine. Press into 9" cake pan. Bake 5 min. at 350 degrees. Cool completely. Then mix 16 oz. cream cheese with 2 c. sugar. Spread on top of cooled graham cracker crust. Slice 4 bananas on top of that. Then spread 1 can crushed, drained pineapple over that. Top all with whipped cream. Garnish with chopped pecans, cherries, and drizzled chocolate syrup as desired. TRUST ME on this one! It's terrific!

I'm trying to figure out how to add music to this site. I may not have many (or any!) people following it, but I'm enjoying it....it's kind of like a diary for me! :)

Second Post Tonight

Well, since I'm a newcomer to blogging, I'm playing around with it quite a bit! It's kind of difficult, but I'm learning! So, anyway, I'm going to post a second message tonight with a couple of pictures I want to share. Zylen's only almost 8 months now, but he looks so much older! He's growing sooo fast! And aren't Morgan and Maegan gorgeous?!? Okay, just wanted to get those pics out there! Long day (and night) tomorrow - Fun Night at Leon Elementary!

Busy Weekend

Football game Friday night, then off to see family in Woodlands on Sat. morning. I got to visit with Lois, Donna, Joe, JJ, Sydney, Jennifer, Jim, Judy, Shelbye, Amanda, Collin, Cammie, Jaden, Jayme, Court, and....ZYLEN! Hope I didn't leave anybody out! I had such a wonderful visit - I always love getting to see any of my family! I didn't get many pictures at all (didn't have my camera with me) but I did get a really good one of Shelbye so I'll post it on here. She's getting married Dec. 20, so she had a "trial run" with Judy on her hairstyle while she was visiting. It was hard to tear myself away, but I came on home late last night. Poor Maegan was very sick with some awful cruddy stuff and Morgan was in a high school play today, so I was needed at home! Meg felt a little bit better and went ahead and left for Dallas for a class she has to attend tomorrow for nursing school. She went to Morgan's play with me, too, and we thought she was just the best - but she did tell me that they skipped the entire second act! LOL! I never even realized it! That's a doting mom for ya! Well, at least she wasn't the cause of the glitch! :) Since Meg was feeling so rotten this morning, I made her a "grandmother's coffee cake." It came out perfect and I think that's what made her feel better...even though she still sounds awful (and she coughed all the way through the play!)Geez, the weekend's almost over... :(

My Favorite People

Here are a few pictures of some of the people I love most in the world - my family! They're not all included here, but eventually I'll get pictures of all of them - maybe we need to have a family reunion with attendance required and a photographer on hand! I love my family!
